Get The Look: Emily Blunt’s Chignon at the 2015 Golden Globes
Our Creative Director, Giovanni Vaccaro, gives his tools and techniques to create the amazing half crown braid worked into a messy chignon that Emily Blunt flaunted on the Golden Globes red carpet.
Emily’s whimsical braided hairstyle is the epitome of messy-elegant and looks 100 times more intricate and elaborate then it actually is to create. A perfect style for unclean hear, the end result hides any indication of dirty strands within the beautiful mess of twists and wraps.
All you need to create Emily’s boho braid is a selection of bobbi and hair pins. Hair pins are slightly more open and are used for placement while bobbi pins give more support to the style. Opt for pins that match your hair color.
Start with an on-the-scalp braid, adding pieces of hair as you go. Once you get behind the ear, stop and secure with a bobbi pin and don’t follow the braid through. Take the leftover hair, twisting and turning it into a messy chignon. Don’t worry about perfection; the style is supposed to look and feel messy. Paired with Blunt’s Grecian goddess Michael Kors gown. The effortlessly dreamy hairstyle perfectly complements her fairytale winter white dress.
