Runway Recap: Miami Swim Week 2015
LULI FAMA – THE LOOK: This runway beauty look, keyed by GLAMSQUAD’s Director of Makeup Artistry, Kelli J Bartlett, featured fresh youthful skin and a striking, sultry eye. Giving the typical gold/bronze an unusual twist for something a little spicier and out of the box, Kelli opted for an intense copper penny metallic stare. Kelli felt this coppery hue complemented the collection more than any typical bronze.
MAKEUP HOW TO: This look is all about intensity at the lashline. It’s best to apply the copper eyeshadow wet, generously lining the bottom inner rim at the lashline. Follow by using a flat brush or finger to smudge and smoke out the bottom lashline. Balance out the look with a fresh creamy apricot cheek, dabbing the same apricot cream blush on the lips. Finish the copper-bronze bombshell beauty look with a layer of waterproof mascara.
TORI PRAVER – THE LOOK: This look is sexy and carefree. The idea is casual, model-off-duty beauty. After a great night out in Miami, she fell asleep on the beach, maybe took a little swim in the ocean. Totally spontaneous. It’s messy-chic with little accents in the hair, maybe a touch of left-behind sand, grit and lots of texture.
HAIR HOW TO: Start on natural texture hair, not pre blown out, for extra movement. Take large sections of hair, twisting and wrapping them around an iron like mini dreads. Follow by applying beach texture surf spray at the ends and running fingers through it. Add small loose fishtail braids halfway down the hair and secure with gold wire or leather tie for added toughness.
MAKEUP HOW TO: The makeup look is earthy and grungy-gold, featuring a burnished worn-in bronze eye, a terracotta cheek and natural nude lip. You only need three products to create this look. For the eye, start by smudging a deep chocolate brown eyeliner under the bottom lash line, concentrating the color on the outer corners. Swipe or pop a flash of metallic bronze over the iris of the eye on your lid and blend with your finger, warming up the gold and mixing it with your chocolate brown liner to give it that worn-in feel. Pop on a peachy bronzer and leave lips natural with a little balm or mute out natural tone with a nude.
ROB & LULU – THE LOOK: Inspired by a retro beach party, bright and poppy turquoise eyes and Old Hollywood waves played homage to Miami’s iconic art deco vibe.
HAIR HOW TO: The hair featured retro-inspired volume at the crown paired with playful and modern, slightly undone waves throughout the ends. The retro wave is made modern by undoing the traditional roller set. A cross between GLAMSQUAD’s signature STARLET, BOMBSHELL and WEEKENDER looks, hair is deeply side-parted and teased at the roots to create lift and volume. At the ends, wrap hair in varying directions around a curling iron, leaving ends out. Follow by using a wide-tooth comb or fingers to tease the length of hair, creating volume and width throughout.
MAKEUP HOW TO: With sexy, bronzed and sculpted skin, the focus is on statement turquoise eyes. Start by bronzing skin and highlighting cheekbones. Then, generously line the top lashline with bold turquoise liner. Follow by curling lashes and adding lots of mascara for extra drama. bronze and highlight cheeks.
