Runway Recap: Backstage Beauty at Dennis Basso Spring 2017

September 15, 2016 admin

To offset Dennis’s classic, timeless and elegant clothes, the hair and makeup was all about effortless edge and sex appeal.

HAIR: A balance of attitude and ease, the styling brings a luxe quality to the undone, lived-in ‘I woke up like this’ look. The look is all about a straighter, textured end with disheveled roots. See below for tips from our Creative Director, Giovanni Vaccaro, to get-the-look.

– Start with Kerastase Mousse Bouffant on the root, creating volume by blow drying and massaging the scalp.
-Once hair is dry, flatiron strands from the mid shaft to ends.
-On the crown, root area, take a three quarter inch curling iron and curl once around the iron, wrapping from the root to mid shaft. Curl each section in opposite directions to create added texture. – Next, take Elixir Ultime and rake through hair with fingers
-Tuck sides behind the ear
-Finish by hitting with some Lacque Couture hairspray

MAKEUP: Playing off the effortlessly feminine elegance of the collection, the makeup looks was barely-there, natural beauty with a touch of cool girl edge. See below for tips from our Director of Makeup Artistry, Kelli J Bartlett, to get-the-look.

– Start with a clean canvas and apply Skin Care of choice then prime the skin with a Hydrating or Illuminating Flawless Primer. Moisturize the lips with very Moisturizing Lip Balm (don’t forget to blot off before adding lip color) Lips will be hydrated.
-Apply a light dewy coverage foundation either a BB Cream or a Natural Finish Foundation to skin, along with concealer under the eyes to hide imperfections. To help conceal dark circles apply a Correcting Highlighter to help achieve a brightening effect. Skin should have a soft dewy natural no makeup look.
-To set the foundation and have a longer wear apply Loose Setting Powder with a powder puff. Then, apply a soft cool tone Blush to cheeks. Make sure you apply the blush up and out fading into top of the cheek bone.
-Using Clear Brow Gel brush brows in an upward motion. This will give a fuller intense appearance to your brows.
-For eyes, first apply an Eye Primer. Then lightly neutral Brown Mushroom tone Eye Shadow on entire eye lid. Make sure the color fades away as you reach the brow bone area. Then use a Cream Gold Metallic Shadow on top of lid closer to the lash line. Make sure the Gold Shadow is applied intensely and bold. Now with a very Fine Point Liquid Eyeliner Pen apply the liner as fine and close to the lash line. Make sure you go all the way from inner corner to outer corner of the eye. When that is achieved apply a smudgy faded unclean wing to outer end of eye.
-Now blot lips with a tissue to remove lip balm. Now using a Lip Liner similar to your natural lip color, apply a light coverage. Lip should have a matt natural finish to them.
