Red Carpet Trend: Smokey Metallic Eyes at the 2017 Golden Globes
Makeup at the Golden Globes was all about bold yet balanced beauty with true hollywood glamour coming back in full force. One of our favorite makeup trends spotted on celebs like Ruth Negga, Nicole Kidman, Blake Lively, Amy Adams and Gina Rodriguez, was the structured, metallic smokey stare. Take a cue from the carpet and follow Kelli’s tips to get the look below!
To create the smoky stare, start by using a paddle brush to sweep a light charcoal-toned shadow from the lash line to the crease and from the inner corner to the outer corner of your eye. Using the same brush, carefully place a darker gray-black-toned shadow tight to the lash line and lid, being careful not to extend past your brow bone. Next, use your pick of eyeliner (or your darkest shadow shade) to line the upper and lower lash line. If you use a pencil, include the inner rim of your eye, if you’re feeling bold. Now, BLEND!! Blending is key as it softens the look and makes the eyeliner appear smudgier and less defined. Swirl a naked brush blending brush (with no eyeshadow) back and forth in the eye socket and then swish it past the brow bone, creating the ideal dreamy diffusion of color. Add an additional pop of metallic on the lid by using your finger and a silver shadow like, MAC’s SIlver Ring Eyeshadow.
